POSTMARK DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS: FEBRUARY
15
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Professional Achievement Award is to recognize
outstanding professional achievement of an individual ASCLS member within
his or her chosen area of academic, scientific or vocational interest.
The award for each Scientific Assembly section will be based on specific
measurable contributions through evidence submitted to the judges. The
chairperson of each Scientific Assembly section is responsible for appointing
an Awards subcommittee to select the winner.
AWARD:
Recipients receive a plaque at the annual ASCLS meeting.

The nominator completes the nomination form and forwards it with an application
form to the nominee. The nominee completes the application form and submits
three copies (six copies for Education) to the ASCLS Awards committee
contact. The General Chair of the ASCLS Scientific Assemblies
is responsible for determining the evaluation protocol to be used for
selecting this awards winners, and for communicating that protocol
to the Awards Chairs of the various scientific assembly sections before
February 15. The chairperson of each Scientific Assembly section is responsible
for appointing an Awards subcommittee to select the winner, and providing
the name of that subcommittees chairman to the ASCLS Awards committee
contact before February 15. By February 22, this contact
will forward the application copies to the Awards Chair of the
appropriate Scientific Assembly section, which will complete the judging
by March 22. The chair of this subcommittee will forward the name(s) of
the awardees to the General Chair of the ASCLS Scientific Assemblies,
who will notify the ASCLS Awards committee contact by
April 8.
NOTE: Because of the multiple levels of communication required for
determining this award, it is critical that deadlines be observed.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The nominee must be:
- a member of ASCLS for at least four years;
- a current member at the time of award presentation;
- a member in the applicable section of the Scientific Assembly for
at least four current and consecutive years.
- active in programs and policies of ASCLS through the mechanisms of
the Scientific Assembly on various levels of ASCLS: local, constituent
society, regional and national.
Scientific Assembly section chairperson(s) and vice chairperson(s) are
not eligible while serving in their position.
While this award is not directed toward administrative aspects of ASCLS,
it is felt that active participation in the Scientific Assembly and ASCLS
is of importance.
EACH SUBCOMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO WITHHOLD THE AWARD FOR THE CURRENT
YEAR IF NOMINEES DO NOT MEET REQUIREMENTS.
