ASCLS Membership Development Committee
Recruitment Display Board Instructions

The ASCLS MDC is working to provide many options to our members to recruit new members into our organization.  We hope that this display board will be easy for you to duplicate for your own needs, but feel free to customize and adjust it to fit your needs.  This is just one idea -- something for you to begin with! Simply follow the instructions below to create a display board as you see in the photo above.

There are several photos shown below that you can download & print to use for the display board. &nbps; We encourage you to use photographs that you have of members doing fun and educational things in your state or region so that a prospective member might recognize someone that they know -- or maybe even themselves!

Be sure to personalize the area/space around the board with membership applications and contact information for follow-ups, and also with flyers that promote upcoming events.

ASCLS Display Board Instructions

1- Buy a 3 foot by 4 foot tri-fold display board. The one in the photo is royal blue but white ones are more readily available.  They come in corrugated cardboard and Styrofoam boards and usually cost less than $10.

2- Print the two enclosed documents on a color laser printer (Display Verbiage I and Display Verbiage II).  Display Verbiage I will be printed on legal size paper (8.5" x 14") in landscape orientation and Display Verbiage II will be printed on letter-sized paper (8.5" x 11") in portrait orientation.  There are 5 pages to print in ASCLS Membership Display Verbiage I and 3 pages to print in ASCLS Membership Display Verbiage II.  You may have to adjust the margins and/or the page breaks to get them to print correctly.

3- Print 2 "ASCLS Logo" on the color printer.  Print using letter sized paper and portrait orientation.

4- Print photos from the "Display Photos" links below; use as many of these as you would like but be sure to add some 'local flavor'.  Standard 4" x 6" photos may also be used.

5- Trim each photo and/or printed copy to an appropriate size.  A 1" border from words or photo to the edge of the paper is used in the sample photo.

6- The display in the photo uses a teal blue paper to frame each element on the display.  The teal paper is cut so that a ½" border is seen around each photo or page of words.  An easy way to do this is to place the photo or printed copy on the teal paper and mark to cut ½" on each edge.  Use a paper cutter for the straightest lines!

7- Using spray adhesive or rubber cement place each element on the teal paper.

8- For a finished edge between the photo and the colored paper, use Formaline adhesive graphic tape to cover the edges of the photos and printed copy.  Black Formaline tape, 1/8" wide was used in the sample photo.

9- Use spray adhesive or rubber cement to place the finished elements on your board.  Now you are ready to use at your next event!
