ASCLS is composed of state member organizations. These state societies possess Scientific
Assemblies reflecting the national organization. Members of the ASCLS Scientific Assembly
are automatically members of the Scientific Assembly of their state society.
A state Scientific Assemblies' coordinator is appointed by the state society president. Chairs for
each Assembly may also be appointed, depending upon numbers and interest. The state coordinator, Assembly
chairs and members promote the same activities of the Scientific Assemblies as are promoted nationally.
State coordinators serve as the points of contact for the national coordinator(s) and national Assembly
chairs and vice-chairs. The state coordinator also maintains a roster of state Scientific Assemblies'
members. If a state appoints no Scientific Assemblies' coordinator, the president serves as the contact
State Scientific Assembly chairs and vice-chairs encourage state meeting and publications planners to
access the national
Scientific Assembly Volunteer Database,
and bulletin board distribution lists. The state Scientific Assembly also provides input to these resources.
ASCLS state societies are organized into numbered regions with regional directors. The state Scientific
Assembly coordinator maintains communication with their regional directors. This communication also serves
the goals and activities of the national and state Scientific Assemblies. Further, state coordinators
communicate with each other, strengthening state and national programs and publications.
